Ear Cuffs, Full Disclosure!

Full Disclosure on Ear Cuffs, xo Tara
I’ve worn ear cuffs day and night for about eight years and have never lost one. I’m also somewhat hard on my jewelry. As one of the brand owners, I like being the guinea pig; I want to know how our pieces wear in real life, what you can do in them, and when you need to be a little more careful.
For years, I wore traditional non-hinged ear cuffs, sometimes stacking several together. Once I found the perfect placement on my ear, I would pinch them snugly into place, and honestly, they weren’t going anywhere!
I’ve since switched to our hinged ear cuffs, which I adore. I love their chunkiness, their shape, and how comfortable they are. I was initially a little hesitant about the hinged design because I wondered if it might be more vulnerable, so naturally, I became the test subject!

I’ve slept in mine, worn them to the gym, traveled in them, and basically lived in them without a single issue. Full disclosure: I even shower in mine. Every jeweler will tell you not to do this, and I’m going to tell you the same thing! Then I towel-dry my hair with them still on. Again, please do not do what I do. I’m sharing this only because, despite putting mine through all of that, I have yet to lose an ear cuff or even have one fall off.
This is simply my personal experience, not a guarantee. The shape and anatomy of your individual ear can make a real difference in how securely an ear cuff fits. For my ears, they work amazingly well.
That said, if I deliberately tug on my hinged cuff, I can pull it off. So if you have a baby or toddler who loves grabbing jewelry, this probably isn’t the piece for you right now!
I’m careful, but certainly not neurotic about my jewelry. While I’ve personally never lost an ear cuff, that doesn’t mean you can’t or won’t. Like all fine jewelry, it needs to be treated with care. Make sure clasps are completely closed, earring backs are secure, and enhancer bails and pendant clasps are properly fastened before wearing.
Fine jewelry is meant to be worn and enjoyed, but a little awareness goes a long way.
